Howling, Raining Cape Cod

We visited Cape Cod on a terribly blustery day. For the first time in my life I was tempted by clam chowder just because I was so cold and wet. I came to my senses and had pasta instead but to even be tempted says a lot about the condition of the day. I was truly disappointed because several of our friends know and love the Cape quite well and had really geared me up for an excellent time. We explored as best we could but this is yet another moment on the east coast we will just have to recreate under better circumstances some day.

Paige has made us promise to take her back anyway because she was not allowed to climb the lighthouses due to her petite stature. She was bitter and insulted and even my explaining that she was small for age but really is eight and quite brave…did nothing to dissuade the keepers of light. They had rules to follow and that was that. We did get a voucher for her to come back some day and climb for free with her favorite parent so I guess that means I’ll be going back up those twisty, narrow stairs sometime in the future.

I’m glad of it.
